Local Made Goods

Local Made Goods

Local Made Goods was founded by Kantawan Narakulmongkol and Chotiphat Suwisuttagul in 2023. Local Made Goods is a Bangkok-based label rooted in the craft traditions, drawing inspiration from the rhythm of the streets and the soul of handmade traditions. Guided by our core value of “Reconnecting the world through craftsmanship,” we believe that craft has the power to connect people across the world through storytelling shaped by the perspectives of artisans in each community we work with, as well as the life experiences expressed by artisans in every discipline. Local Made Goods works closely with artisans and craft communities in Thailand to source handwoven and naturally dyed cotton, plant-based buttons, and hemp-thread embroidery, creating garments that bridge cultures and spark meaningful conversations between people and clothing. We aim to gather artisans from every discipline to collaborate on design and push the boundaries of Thai craft in ways never before seen, including weaving, printmaking, ceramics, hand embroidery, leatherwork, metalwork, biomaterials, and more in the future. Our brand began in 2023, and we officially launched our first collection, SS24 ASPARAGUS PROJECT, in January 2024. Throughout the past year, we have worked with local artisans from Northern Thailand. Our products focus on craftsmanship that brings together materials from across Thailand with thoughtfully designed functionality. We are attentive to every step, with meticulous care, starting with sourcing organic cotton handwoven and naturally dyed by small communities, then carefully hand-tailored in Bangkok. In addition, we have conducted extensive research into plant-based buttons (Tagua nut) and hand embroidery with naturally dyed hemp thread in every product we present. Beyond this, we also strive to collaborate with artists from other fields and with mixed-media installations to push craftsmanship into the present and the future, making it more contemporary and accessible. In 2025, we created the ‘PLAID SERIES’ collection, in collaboration with artisans from communities in the northeastern provinces of Thailand, including Sakon Nakhon, Roi Et, and Sa Kaeo, to study the diverse weaving and natural dyeing techniques unique to each community.
