SUPERNATURES

Domestic Natures

Everything in nature, including ourselves, carries a uniqueness, a story, and a history, shaping its identity. Yet today, nature is confined by systems of production and ways of living that prioritize standardization for the sake of efficiency and replication. What once gave both nature and humanity their distinct value and beauty has been diminished, transformed, or erased, leaving behind only "materials" or "standards" stripped of their narrative—soulless and emptied of spirit. The unique character of nature is born from growth, time, and chance. Each form carries the quiet record of forces like wind, water, and sunlight that have shaped it over the years. These forms are not designed; they emerge from life and adaptation to their environment. It is this natural intelligence we seek to draw from, bringing its presence into the spaces of daily life. In most modern production processes, nature is reduced to raw material and stripped of its story. Trees are felled and processed, stones are quarried until their unique forms vanish, leaving behind only uniform resources optimized for efficiency. What once carried the marks of growth and survival is flattened into standard shapes, functional but emptied of the soul that made each piece unique. Our design process allows nature to continue its story while giving us a way to live alongside it. By using 3D scanning to capture these elements in their original state, we preserve their character without removing them from the environments that shaped them. Through this process, we bring back the soul of nature—the unique forms and traces of growth are reintroduced into daily life through the design of furniture, sculptures, household objects, and activities that help people reconnect with nature. This allows nature to continue to exist both in its original place and within the spaces we inhabit, offering us a way to experience it on its own terms. This is Domestic Natures: a practice of restoring the soul and intelligence of natural forms into the heart of our everyday environments.
