Following the success of last year’s multi-sensory exploration, Music Makes Senses returns to Bangkok Design Week 2026 with a renewed emphasis on design-driven collaboration. This year, the project moves beyond its previous culinary focus to highlight the voices of Thai creators across disciplines, with live classical music as the universal starting point. Each session begins with musicians leading audiences into a shared emotional space, which then unfolds into layered design experiences co-created with emerging talents.
Leading Thai creatives will mentor the project: Santi Lawrachawee, whose work spans visual identity, exhibition systems, and experimental print design; Supitcha Tovivich, an architect and cultural designer whose interdisciplinary practice engages with urban vernacular, community co-creation, and placemaking; Divana Spa, renowned for translating Thai wellness heritage into immersive lifestyle and spatial experiences; and Anothai Nitibhon, a composer, curator, and educator whose work is rooted in intercultural dialogue and the integration of local and contemporary musical language. Under their guidance, students from the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PGVIM) will co-create performances and design interventions, transforming the historic riverside Gita Rajanagarinda Building into a living canvas where music expands into visual, tactile, spatial, and atmospheric dimensions.
Music Makes Senses 2026 embodies Bangkok Design Week’s theme “DESIGN S/O/S” by strengthening domestic creativity through intergenerational collaboration among established designers, composers, and young musicians; expanding outreach by positioning Thai creativity within global conversations on design and performance; and shaping a sustainable future by modeling cross-disciplinary learning and creative ecosystems. Audiences are invited to experience a powerful journey where music and design converge to reaffirm Thailand’s role as a cultural innovator on the world stage.
