Future Co-Living - Suankularb Wittayalai School

Core Concept: Suankularb Wittayalai School aims to develop a curriculum focused on fostering students' potential as global citizens. Therefore, the "Global Citizen Competency" pilot course will be introduced in the second semester of the 2025 academic year. The school sees this as an opportunity to launch Suankularb Wittayalai as a "Creative School." We are exploring possibilities with other departments within the school to open up school grounds for exhibitions and activities. This initiative aims to signal a response to future changes in the surrounding neighborhood, declare that the school is part of the community, and cultivate an awareness in students and staff of their role as co-creators of the community in which we will co-exist in the future. Exhibition Concepts: 1. From GenZ, by GenZ During the recent school break, eighth-grade (Mathayom 2) students from Suankularb Wittayalai participated in an activity conceptualized by the school in collaboration with a creative camp agent. Using the Future Foresight Framework, the students developed ideas for an empty space near the school, envisioning how it could be transformed to respond to changes for future co-living within the community. Status: The students have already presented their concepts at a camp. This content is ready to be further developed into an exhibition. 2. Night at the SK Museum The Long Building of Suankularb Wittayalai School houses a museum of Thai education on its entire first floor, narrating the story of the educational concepts that led to the establishment of the first public school. There is potential to hold additional exhibitions and open the school museum to the public. Status: The school already has a museum showcasing its history. This could be expanded upon to display new works or create activities for greater visitor engagement. 3. S/O/S - Save Our Society The "Global Citizen Competency" course includes lessons where students engage in learning activities about 21st-century global changes, the VUCA and BANI worlds, the characteristics of a strong global citizen, leadership roles, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), principles of community studies using geographical and social tools, data visualization principles, the power of storytelling, and literary and cinematic elements that reflect social issues related to the community surrounding Suankularb Wittayalai School. Students will be tasked with presenting the information they have studied in an appropriate format, such as an exhibition, a workshop, a panel discussion, or other on-stage activities. Status: This is a new course that will be offered in the second semester of the 2025 academic year. It will require students to enroll and complete the coursework before they can design their presentations to align with the nature of the event or exhibition.
