Banana in the Room by SZACK
Banana in the Room by SZACK I 17 January - 21 February 2026
In a society saturated with symbols, values, and layered meanings to the point that it becomes difficult to distinguish what is real from what is constructed, the exhibition âBanana in the Roomâ presents the âbananaâ as an ordinary object often overlooked, yet one that holds complex associations both personally and socially.
Within this seemingly simple and familiar space, artist Szack employs the banana as a humorous, recognizable, and seemingly harmless visual symbol to prompt us to question the things we all âsee right in front of usâ but rarely address with sincerity.
The phrase âElephant in the roomâ speaks to a major issue that everyone knows but refuses to confront.
Then âBanana in the roomâ refers to something so familiar, so amusing, and so seemingly safe that we no longer take it seriously enough to question it, forgetting that beneath its simplicity lies a complexity we have chosen not to see.
Here, the banana is not merely a fruit but a stand-in for image, gender identity, the fragility of perception, and the truths we bury beneath laughter.
We laugh at it in order to avoid facing it.
We treat it as a joke so that we do not have to speak of it directly.
This exhibition invites viewers to be with the banana in the room:
Not simply to look, but to observe.
Not merely to laugh, but to question.
Not to let it fade into the background of familiarity,
but to open space for the hidden meanings behind its humor to emerge.
Because sometimes, the thing we believe to be ânothingâ
is precisely the thing we have avoided speaking about for far too long.
