ZeitGeistS is a Siamese Instrumental Psychedelic Rock collective formed in Bangkok during the mid-2010s by Aum Piyawat Subhamitra (Guitar) and Kim Nopbhorn Wongpratum (Bass). United by shared ideologies regarding music, politics, and socio-cultural awareness, the founders established the group to explore sound as a potent medium for social and historical reflection. The current lineup features five members: Aum Piyawat Subhamitra (guitars), Kim Nopbhorn Wongpratum (bass), Thot Panomkwan (drums), Wasin Wainiya (keyboards) Kan-ta (woodwinds / percussion) The ensemble composes instrumental music that directly confronts themes of history, human rights, liberation, anti - war / genocide and dictatorship. Through their work, ZeitGeistS aims to provoke dialogue and question systems of power, utilizing sound and imagery to amplify the voices of the oppressed. Their signature sound fuses fuzz-driven psychedelia, doom-laden heaviness, and free improvisation, merging elements of Progressive Rock and Avant-garde with distinct Oriental tonal motifs. By blending the raw energy of rock with the fluidity of jazz and meditative ambient textures, the band creates a sonic landscape that mirrors the tension between freedom and control, chaos and transcendence. The band draws inspiration from a vast musical lineage, including Black Sabbath, King Crimson, Pink Floyd,, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bob Dylan and more. Their ideological sensibilities are equally shaped by the literary and political works of Seni Saowaphong, Nai Pee, Chit Phumisak, Hermann Hesse, Albert Camus, and George Orwell, as well as pivotal global historical events. Following the release of their EP (2021), ZeitGeistS is currently in production for a full-length album slated for 2026. This upcoming independent release features notable collaborations with guest musicians,. Known for their immersive live performances, the band integrates visual projections, spoken poetry, and audience improvisation to transform concerts into socio-political experiences.
