Space V: Space-Vending for Future Wellbeing in the City

SpaceV : Space-Vending for Future-Wellbeing in the City is a talk that presents multidisciplinary designers Tiange Wang and I-Yang Huang’s recent award-winning project that spotlight unmanned space-vending as an alternative experience and service design that address the urgent need for adaptable personal spaces in densely populated urban environments. SpaceV is a digitally-enabled space-vending system for future wellbeing in the city. It vends a variety of spaces for individuals to book by the minutes and hours to exercise, meditate, nap, eat, relax and so on, and customize the multisensory quality and supplies through reservation to suit their needs. SpaceV serves to meet the fragmented needs for activity and relaxation in everyday city life and support on-the-go private usage of spaces for a holistic physical and mental wellbeing. In this talk, drawing from their extensive research and design expertise, the duo will share the inspiration behind SpaceV and its role in addressing urban challenges, highlight the blend of technology, space, and user experience in their design, and discuss the potential societal impacts, from mental health benefits to environmental considerations.
