We may have heard that Bangkok is the Venice of the East because of its dense network of canals and waterways in the past. However, today, wastewater problems from both industrial and household sources are common in Bangkok's rivers and canals, causing distress to residents and tourists. The “Commons Klong '' introduces the concept of using microorganisms to treat wastewater. People in general can learn about this method through this space located on the banks of Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem. These organisms are known as “micro algae”. This wastewater treatment technology has been researched and tested in many countries around the world, but it is not yet widespread in Thailand. We hope that this innovation will be an alternative solution for the canal water treatment and benefit the community, city, and country. In addition to wastewater treatment, the byproducts also include biomass that can be used further for community to generate extra income We hope that the “Commons Klong” project will be more than just a presentation of wastewater treatment technology, but also function as a common space for people in the neighborhood. One of the concepts used for the design is the “Chinese table” since it brings together many people for happiness. The rotating gesture of the Chinese table is also similar to one of the wastewater treatment processes by micro algae.
