SoundBath / SoundBātr
The Baan Bat community is a distinctive neighborhood in the heart of Bangkok, known for its unique craft of handcrafting monk alms bowls, a tradition that has been passed down through generations. The echoing sounds of hammering, cutting, and melting metals to create these bowls can still be heard throughout the community, preserving a heritage that might otherwise fade with time.
The "SoundBath / SoundBātr" project draws inspiration from these resounding sounds. We aim to capture the essence of various types of alms bowls made by the community, transforming them into diverse media forms. From music inspired by the rhythm of the alms bowl-making process to ASMR experiences and the soothing sounds of meditation through sound baths, our project introduces people to the community through the everyday sounds of this unique neighborhood.
