Reviving Flower Wastes
We create flower paper crafts by mixing used paper and discarded flowers within the Pak Klong Talad area. Our goal is to turn the unique paper designs made from local waste materials into a distinctive selling point for the community. Additionally, we aim to raise awareness of the garbage problem within this community and promote proper waste separation among the residents. Our plan is to introduce our art to the Pak Klong Talad community. We will use this installation art as a central point to distribute maps and information. This will guide people interested in collecting our products to visit the local flower shops in the area and learn more about this fascinating cultural hub.
Installation
The size of the installation is 3x3 sq.m. This art is created using trash from the Pak Khlong Talad community, including flowers, plastics, papers, and foam trash. Strings are used to arrange the process of transforming trash into flower paper. Every string emerges from the baskets commonly seen in the Pak Khlong Talad area, symbolizing the way of life and environmental problems. The installation presents experimental waste management methods through handicrafts, creating value for flower waste in the community and instilling awareness of the environment at the urban society level.
Activity
Engage in the assembly of paper flowers and colored paper pieces designed into various types of flowers, each conveying meanings based on feelings. The assembled pieces include small paper flower bouquets, colored paper flower pieces, paper frames, and picture frames to hold the compositions. Special flowers are exclusively given to event participants. Employ the technique of layering flower-shaped paper to create three-dimensional art. Participants can design flower arrangements, choose decorative leaf elements, or use color pencils to enhance their creations based on their skills. A small fee is applicable for the activity, and participation in the paper flower assembly takes approximately 40 minutes to 1 hour in the event area.
Goals
Raise awareness about waste management issues in the area and foster an appreciation for the value of flower waste. We provide creative pieces in the form of art, strategically arranged as a central point for disseminating information and displaying a map of store locations offering products and souvenirs for the event. This setup enables individuals interested in our work to explore flower shops in the vicinity and gain insights into the ways of Pak Khlong Talad.
