Our Imaginative Boundaries

"Our Imaginative Boundaries" is an exhibition plan as a social design experiment by the artist collective "Chojamachi School of Arts," which designs an area in a specific district of the city of Nagoya for nurturing creative talents and intertwining international creative activities. This time, we focused on the sacred "boundaries" that appear in Japanese culture, which are created very simply by stretching a string and hanging paper. There are various countries and cultures in the world, and each society creates its unique boundaries based on the culture of the people living there. These boundaries carve out society from the originally chaotic natural environment and structure the inside of the society by segmenting it. Each artist will use tools such as photography, video, painting, sculpture, language, and sound to research boundaries that exist in our society but are often invisible or not recognized as boundaries in daily life from a creative perspective. By focusing on and being aware of the existing boundaries and proposing different boundaries from a creative perspective, we hope to transform our society into one with a more livable structure. The exhibition consists of experimental creations based on the social research of seven Japanese artists associated with the Chojamachi School of Arts, two Serbian artists, and five Thai artists. It includes multimedia installation works using the second floor of the FOFA Gallery at Srinakharinwirot University in Bangkok and sound performances involving students.
