After lessons learned from the "Bikeable Bangkok" project in BKKDW2024, in which we tested bike routes, navigation systems, and prototype bicycle parking racks, the working team gathered information from an online survey to collaborate with the BMA and exchanged knowledge with officers from the Dutch Cycling Embassy.
One of the many great examples from the Netherlands that we wish to explore further is the "Bike Node Network System," which assigns numbers to each junction nationwide. This node system becomes a reference point for users to freely design their routes and travel plans.
Due to the road conditions in Bangkok being so different from those in the Netherlands—for example, we don't have dedicated bike lanes—we hope to use Bangkok Design Week 2025 to prototype and test this node system.
We will design and install signage and organize bike trips to gather user feedback. This will help us further study and determine the possibility of implementing this system in Bangkok. (Or look for other alternatives if it fails.)
