Joss 304 (Upcycle Spirit House for Recycle)
When a spirit house has expired, it often becomes 'sacred waste' that no one dares to destroy due to the belief that gods or sacred entities reside there. Consequently, many people are unsure how to properly dismantle a spirit house. We propose upcycling old spirit houses to maximize their benefits. By using the remains of the old shrine as components for a new shrine and designing a structure that aligns with sustainability principles, we can ensure that it does not create sacred waste when it is no longer in use. Additionally, it can be installed without conflicting with the living environment or even be repurposed as a piece of furniture.
