Silpakorn University has long been involved in cultural and artistic activities to support Thai creative designers. In 2004, the university established the Thai Designer of the Year 2004 awards. To continue this initiative, Silpakorn University has tasked the Faculty of Decorative Arts with carrying on the project. The faculty is collaborating with key partners, including the Department of International Trade Promotion’s Office of Product Development and Value Added from the Ministry of Commerce, the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture from the Ministry of Culture, professional organizations, educational institutions, and leading designers. This collaboration aims to elevate the selection process for designers and help develop Thai design standards to an international level. In 2025, the Designer of the Year Awards were presented to 19 recipients, consisting of two Honor Awards, ten Designer of the Year Awards, and seven Emerging Designer Awards.
