Over a century ago, Song Wat was one of Bangkokâs key commercial hubs, where merchants imported and exported goods ranging from spices to agricultural products.
This spirit is captured in the âSong Wat Identity Manhole Covers,â a collaboration between the artist and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The project reimagines Monopoly as a playful way to narrate the districtâs history, turning a manhole cover into a real, playable board game that preserves and communicates local heritage.
For Bangkok Design Week, the artist collective, with guidance from PLAY Art House, expanded the concept into âMerchants of Song Watâ, a life-size board game and art installation set within the historic Tuk Khaek on Song Wat Road. Inspired by the siteâs legacy, closely linked to the history of textile trading, this event invites people to step into the role of merchants, learning and exchanging stories through an immersive experience.
