URBAN ALLY X HAS DESIGN AND RESEARCH
People Pavilion by Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee
Radiant Bangkok, or the People Square Pavilion, reflects the creative energy of Bangkok through the integration of culture, art, and urban design. The concept emerged from close observation of user behavior within a tropical climate, with âshadeâ and âlightâ forming the core of the design. Existing urban infrastructure, such as public light poles, is repurposed as the pavilionâs structure to reduce material use and promote sustainability. During the day, the pavilion casts colorful shadows and provides shaded spaces for public activities, while at night it transforms into a luminous urban beacon. The project presents a prototypical approach to public architecture that enhances quality of life and contemporary urban experience, while redefining the role of public architecture through the collaboration of architectural firm Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS design and research, Urban Ally, Light Is, Bangkok Canvas, Masco Enterprise Thailand, with the support of CEA and the BMA.
