Urban Furniture : Stormwater Planter Box

Dr.Jianbin Wang, a researcher who promotes multifunctional infrastructure and applies circular economy principles to envision water-sensitive urban environments at the local scale, and Ditiphatra Chanarithichai, an economic research assistant at Water Sensitive Cities Australia, Monash University, collaborated with a team of faculty members, staff, and students from the School of Architecture, Art and Design, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang — including Dr.Chaniporn Thampanichwat, Limpasilp Sirisakdi, Panyaphat Somngam, Pakin Anuntavachakorn, Taksaporn Petlai, and Prima Phaibunputhipong. Stormwater Planter Box is an innovative approach to urban green space design that integrates environmental, economic, and social functions in a sustainable manner. It aims to address key urban challenges, including flooding, water pollution, and the lack of green space. The planter box is specifically designed for Bangkok's context, capable of absorbing and filtering rainwater before releasing it into the drainage system. This helps reduce the burden on urban drainage infrastructure, increases green space, and enhances the overall quality of life for city residents in a sustainable way.
