BIPAM (Bangkok International Performing Arts Meeting)
A Performace for The City & The City : Track Trace Trance
A Package of Calls.
The fragile dreams are nicely wrapped and delivered to the city of contradiction, hurting people.
“In the City of Dream, everyone is yearning for something. Will we be able to wake up from a fragile state and dream for ourselves? What can we hope for? Though these messages are dismissed, we still desire to send out the package of dreams”.
The Grand Postal Building hall is selected as a special exhibition space for its uniqueness in function: a passing area for people and postal service customers. On the other layer, the Postal office is the intersection connecting physically and conceptually, besides connecting the dynamic flow in the building, the venue connects within and outside the country through post setting itself as a historical mark.
The charismatic grand architecture with the complex floor is also a challenge for the exhibition design.
BIPAM presents ‘The City & The City: Track Trace Trance’ site-specific exhibition, a continuation from the previous exhibition that presents the voices of the people being suppressed by the city. This year the exhibitor invited the people to reproduce images of urban living, without glossing over the fact that their dreams are still struggling against the turbulent societal change now. They have been exploring and tracing their dream through the question “ Does my dream can be realised? or is there anybody sharing the same dream and doing something to make it come true ?”
Even though the dreams seem blurry with no way out, the artists want to create a space to deliver packages of calls and fragile dreams and invite visitors to feel, question and nurture their dream so it’s not faded in the city.
