SUPIT

Rest to Recover

When one thing is put on hold, another grows. The collection of jewellery portrays the designer's views on what she has learned during the COVID-19 pandemic. At times when humans are trapped inside, a phenomenal change occurs in nature. The number of living organisms, animals, and insects has visibly increased. Because environment has improved, the population of firefly, a kind of the insects, increases. It is a good indication that reflects the abundance of the ecosystem as a result of the nature's recuperation. As a designer, Supitcha has created pieces of jewellery that were inspired by fireflies and the abundant ecosystem to express 'Rest to Recover' idea. And also, using it as a reminder of how important nature is and the appropriate distance between human and nature. In the creation process, Supitcha has chosen to create texture on a metal wire by hammering technique, sorting out the sizes, and delicately bending copper sheets into individual leaf shapes, creating a life-like firefly's ecosystem. On the firefly's light element, Supitcha used pure gold to decorate the centre of the light element embodying its precious beauty and enable the visitors to clearly understand the piece's objective. Supitcha Jungprawat, a Silpakorn University graduate, from the Faculty of Decorative Arts, in the Department of Jewellery Design, is a designer with love for nature, the majority of her work represents the conservation of the environment and natural resources mainly through the creation of free and natural forms.
