‘Made in Charoenkrung’ project aims to develop the old traditional businesses in the Charoenkrung district and their artisan skills to produce contemporary products. By pairing the ‘Old and New generation’ to ‘co-operate’ these special versions pieces. This will help the ‘old’ see the possibilities and creative potential of the districts, allowing them to learn and develop their business to sustain.
The 3rd year of Made in Charoenkrung is back with the topic ‘Last Generation’. This year the focus is on the diminishing businesses with no successors due to the change in consumer behaviour, technology replacement and COVID-19 impact.
With the collaboration of 5 businesses and 4 designers and creators that you would never have imagined.
1. Kriangsak, the last blacksmith of Talad Noi, and COTH Studio
2. Sio Siah Kee Stamps & Coins, the first stamps shop on Charoenkrung Road, and Likay Bindery
3. Kuangfah Printing House, the last Letterpress printing on Phat Sai road
4. The only Chinese lantern maker on Charoenkrung road and Ek Thongprasert
5. Hong Huat Ice-cream shop, the original coconut cream ice-cream of Charoenkrung road and witti.studio
