According to a 2020 survey, Thailand is the world's 10th largest dumper of plastic waste into the sea. Every year, millions of pieces of plastic waste are thrown into the ocean, harming and killing hundreds of thousands of marine animals.
One of the most damaging types of waste to the ecosystem is fishing net debris from the fishing industry, which amounts to 700,000 kilograms per month. Some of this waste destroys coral reefs or accumulates in the ocean, taking over 600 years to decompose.
“If it's so difficult to decompose, it means that it's durable enough.” That's why we collect these nets and use them as the main materials to design and produce the SEAUSE bag. In addition to the used fishing nets, we also use plastic bottles and inner tubes of used truck tires to make recycled fabric and zippers.
