Is it time for Thai designers to consider using natural materials with low-carbon emissions in modern architectural design?
This project aims to demonstrate the possibility of using natural materials as main structures in architecture and how these materials can be integrated into people's daily lives, such as in public parks. This effort is showcased through a large arch-shaped wooden structure made from rubber wood, joined together using the glue-laminated technique. This challenges the previous belief that such structures can only be built with steel or concrete.
The Studio of Architecture and Environment (StuAE) is the main architectural designer and builder for this arch, with support from the Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. They are also organizing additional activities such as lighting in the area, 3D projections on the building, and setting up vendor booths.
