WISHULADA SUSTAINABLE MAP
SOCIAL ACTIVIST ARTIST: WISHULADA
Every human being contains within themselves a special capacity for creativity. A world without imagination or creativity would be bereft of invention and convenience. Similarly, the artist believes everyone has the potential to transform waste and has harnessed her creative power to raise awareness of environmental issues through her art and inspire people to effectively reuse waste materials. She believes that the power of creativity and limitless imagination combined with determination can create a sustainable future.
SUSTAINABLE MAP
The New Normal lifestyle is a result of the COVID-19 crisis over the past two years. This inspired WISHULADA to create an art piece that showcases landmarks and popular places such as well-known café and restaurants, museums, temples, and check-in points around Charoen Krung Road, Talad Noi Subdistrict. Viewers can scan the QR CODE for information on each place. WISHULADA hopes that this activity can stimulate economic growth, support Thai products and services, and raise awareness among local Thais and foreign tourists of the many interesting and must-visit places in the area.
This art piece is made of 200 kilograms of waste materials such as plastic boards, second-handed irons, bottle caps, laundry detergent pouches, snack bags, waste cloth pieces, toys, etc.
The artist collaborated with Tambon Bang Mae Nang community in Nonthaburi province and Tambon Rai Patthana community in Chai Nat province under the concept of “Create Change through Creative Thinking.” This idea has been incorporated from beginning to end, with the artist challenging herself to create an art installation using 100 percent waste materials with minimum leftover materials to send a message to visitors. Since our lifestyle has changed due to the pandemic, the artist would like to inspire a “New Normal with Environmental Concern” using the 3R concept.
Rethink: Rethink our behavior with environmental concerns in mind.
Reduce: Reduce new resource consumption.
Reuse: Reuse our belongings as many times as possible, which consumes less energy than recycling.
