MYSTREE
Curtains of “Sai-Sinn” (สายสิญจน์), or white threads used in holy ceremonies for connecting what we call the holy stream, are installed onto the limbs. The tree now forms a connection between the branches and the underground stems. As the thread is buried into the earth, a network of beliefs and myths is embedded into this holy land.
With the threads functioning like fiber optics, transporting holy stream from one place to the other;
“Mystree” provokes questions beyond the discourse of the objects’ materiality by reflecting upon the meaning and value our culture has embodied into the material-hood via acts of beliefs and religious ceremony, forming another layer of interpretation by faith.
These hanging threads now form an invisible boundary that defines a sacred space under the tree, an interplay between the juxtaposition of beliefs and practicality through the use of materials of faith that represent the invisible implication of the object-hood.
